Goodbye Venice, Hello Ljubljana - nealeb

It's now Friday 13 May 2016 - we have farewelled Venice and started our next adventure in Slovenia.

Our last few days in Venice saw the weather turn overcast and showery. On Wednesday, the rain was fairly constant at times but we were still able to get out and about and dodge the puddles. We had a booking at a nice seafood restaurant on Wednesday night, venturing out in fairly heavy rain. Thankfully it had eased by the time we headed home and, although we awoke to rain again on Thursday,  this cleared to a beautiful sunny day for our last day in Venice.

We decided we would do what tourists do and take a gondola ride (although we were minus the selfie stick that seems be so common....on gondolas, at the top of canal bridges, even a bride was having her photo taken with someone who had a selfie stick....no doubt a professional gig!).

We arranged a shuttle transfer from Venice to Ljubljana and, although it was fine when we left Venice, we had showers along the way. The temperature is noticeably cooler over here - probably around 14 degrees today. It should warm up a little over the week, although minimum temperatures will still be below 10 degrees.

After settling into our apartment, we decided to go for a short walk and explore a little. The bridge below is covered in padlocks on both sides, placed by couples - there would be thousands of them!

There's a lot of cafes and bars along the river, although we suspect the weather may have caused them to be quieter than usual. We look forward to doing some more exploring over our time here.
